I dont think that Holden is a pacifist in real life. I think people on the outside dont think he is. Holden dies see himself as one though. I think he wants to be a pacifist. It probably makes him feel good to tell himself he is a peaceful person. But really he's not. I dont think he's entirely aggressive but if something is bothering him he will stick up for what he believes.

Holden say he is a pacfist cause he really does like fighting. i kinda see him like that but i tthe same way he does kinda sounds like he is not a pacifist. but now after reading farther in the book he menttioned that he doesnt like fight so what he likes to do is make fun of people sometimes
I dont think that Holden is a pacifist or antagonist. Holden is extremely spontaneous, and this make it difficult for him to be a pacifist, because whatever it is that he suddenly decides to do, could be either for his benefit or not. Like when Holden jumped on Stradlaters back, that was a spontaneous decision that led to him getting beat up. Not the sort of thing a pacifist would do.

I don't think he's a pacifist because he never really has anything good to say about his life except for memories. The time he might have been a pacifist was when he was younger, when he was still friends with Jane and his brother was alive. Now all he can talk about is how gross his roomate is, how he flunks out of schools, and how much better his siblings are.

Holden claims to be a pacifist and proves hims self correct with direct evidense. Holden angers stradlater and stradlaters smashes his face in and Holden made knnow attempt to get back at him.
wow really? u r wrong holden started it it was his fault holden thought he wuld b able to get back at stradlater by fighting so how does he prove himself correct if he started it? also its resolution, evidence, and made no attempt
I don,t think that Holden is a pacifist because he encouraged Stradlater and Stradlater ended up beating Holden up and Holden was bloody.
