In chapter 5, Holden completes an assignment for Stradlater by writing about his own brother, Allie. He helps out Stradlater, but in what way does he help himself out?

  1. He helps himself out by remembering the good times with Allie. It also helps him try get over grief of losing his brother by writing about the glove and reminds him of the poems Allie wrote.

  2. he helps himself, by talking about him, and bring allie back to life, in his own mind. which is always a good thing to do, remembering and honoring the deceased.

  3. He helps himself out by revealing how he feels about his brothers dath. He talks about his brother and how Allie had a baseball mit and that he always had it with him.

  4. He helps himself out by allowing himself to vent. By writing the assignment, it gave him an opprotunity to let out emotions and to tell "someone" about himself in a way. He was able to reflect back upon when Allie was still alive and why he even wrote the poems on there in the first place. It was, I feel, a happy memory for him

  5. It helps him out by remembering all of the good times that he had with Allie. The assignment allowd him to vent through paper and pen, not through fighting.
